Auditor Competence determines the quality of systems.
To guarantee the international integrity of Enviroscientific Sustainability Auditors and to ensure that these auditors conform to international auditor requirements, specific professional qualifications, experience, and audit competence are required for accreditation of Auditors, Lead auditors, Verifying auditors and Certification Managers.
The following table defines the minimum criteria for these fields of practice:

Accredited as auditor for at least 5 years
- Declarations:
Signing of Ethical Code
- Period of Registration:
Certification expires after a period of 24 months if no producers were audited.

Certified SANAS Technical & Lead Assessor training for at least Environmental Management Systems

Certification expires after a period of 24 months if no producers were audited.
The relevant auditing is based on scientific assessments and requires the ability to assist auditees in interpreting scientific data and provide scientific advice relating to all practices applicable to agriculture/horticulture/viticulture and relevant processing/packaging facilities. Formal training in these aspect-specific disciplines is a prerequisite for all Auditors, similar to ISO/IEC 17021-2 requirements. Enviroscientific® is the independent audit body for amongst others Scheme for Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) and Woolworths’ Farming for the Future (FFF) and accreditation and appointment of these auditors may only be facilitated by Enviroscientific®. Where individual external auditors are used, they need to conform to impartiality requirements similar to ISO/IEC 17021-1, including competence, confidentiality and impartiality (e.g. confirming that no services were provided to the auditee or its organization for a period of at least 2 years prior to the audit, and agreement not to provide any services to the auditee or its organization for a minimum period of 2 years after the audit).
